Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about jurisdictional risk checks in MemberCheck.
What does the jurisdiction risk check add to a scan?
It adds a Jurisdiction Risk tab with technical compliance and effectiveness ratings based on FATF recommendations for the country of the screened entity, plus FATF Black List and Grey List status with a link to the FATF source.
How are the ratings worked out?
Effectiveness ratings cover the 11 Immediate Outcomes and technical compliance ratings cover the 40 FATF Recommendations. Each rating is converted into a score to derive an average for the country.
Do I still get jurisdiction risk information if no match is found?
Yes. The option returns the jurisdiction risk for the screened entity's country, if available, whether or not a profile match is found, and it shows in the tab and the downloadable reports.
Does it work for individuals and companies?
Yes. FATF Jurisdiction Risk is a scan setting for single and batch scans of individuals and corporates, on the web and through the API.
Who switches it on?
The Compliance Officer presets it in organisation settings, where the default is No, or sets it to User Defined so users or API clients choose it per scan.
What is the difference between the Black List and the Grey List?
The Black List is FATF's call for action list, and the Grey List is FATF's increased monitoring list. MemberCheck shows either status with a link to the relevant FATF source.
What other country indicators appear on profiles?
Profiles show Tax haven and Sanction indicators based on the person's primary country of residence or the company's primary and registered locations, and flag countries on the FATF black or grey list.
