Governance
Set the rules and keep control
The compliance officer decides how the check runs and what the risk settings say.
Risk settings
Set high, medium or low levels for PEP, sanctions and custom watchlist categories, with the highest level shown.
- PEP Tier 1high
- Sanctions listshigh
- PEP Tier 3medium
- Former PEPlow
Levels guide due diligence and do not enforce it, and a subcategory level takes precedence over its category.
Check settings
The compliance officer makes the risk assessment mandatory, optional or unavailable during screening, for individuals and companies.
Roles and permissions
Compliance officers, advanced users, standard users and auditors each get the access their role needs.
Decision history
A replaced decision keeps its history, and every decision, risk level and comment appears in the reports.
Delivery
Run it your way

Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about MemberCheck risk assessments.
What is an AML risk assessment?
A structured evaluation that produces a risk rating, typically low, medium or high, and sets the level of due diligence a customer needs.
How does a risk based approach work?
Lower risk customers get standard due diligence, while higher risk customers get enhanced measures such as source of wealth checks and more frequent reviews.
When should a risk profile be updated?
When something material changes, like an address or business activity, or after a new adverse media or PEP and sanctions match, plus periodic reviews set by rating.
Is a documented risk assessment required under FATF?
FATF Recommendation 1 expects firms to assess and document money laundering risk, and many national AML laws require a written risk assessment.
Can we customise the questions?
Yes. A compliance officer can add or clone questions, set the score for each answer and mark one as the sanctions outcome, separately for individuals and companies.
How is the risk level worked out?
Every answer carries a score of no risk, low, medium or high, and together they give an overall risk score and level. A sanctions answer sets the outcome on its own, whatever the other scores say.
Can it run with screening or on its own?
Both. Run it beside a PEP and sanctions, ID verification or KYB scan, where the result shows in a Risk Assessment tab, or as a standalone check.
